The Westfield Area YMCA is partnering with Jersey Mike’s S ubs located at 144 East Broad Street in Westfield for the 11th annual Marc h “Month of Giving” fundraising campaign. The campaign culminates in the J ersey Mike’s “Day of Giving” on Wednesday\, March 31. On that day\, the W estfield Jersey Mike’s location will donate 100% of the day’s sales to hel p send a kid in need to camp or child care at the Westfield Area YMCA this year. “The Y is thankful and appreciative of Jersey Mike’s continued gen erosity\,” stated Bonnie Cohen\, Westfield Area YMCA Director of Communica tions and Development.
\nSince the first nationwide fundraiser in 2011\, Jersey Mike’s annual Month of Giving has r aised more than $32 million for local charities.

Kick off the New Year at the Y and enjoy programs and classes for the entire family. Registration for th e Westfield Area YMCA Winter program session begins at 9:00am on Thursday\ , December 9 for Full Members and at 9:00am\, Monday\, December 13 for Bas ic and Non-Members. \nThe Y offers an extensive swim lesson program that accommodates all abi lities and helps foster a sense of achievement as swimmers progress. Pare nt/child classes introduce children ages 6 months to 3 years to the water. For youth and teens\, the water safety and stroke development curriculum allows swimmers to develop at their own pace. The Y also offers individu al lessons and can create a class for small groups/pods.
\nYouth sports classes include basketball\, sports sampler \, soccer\, t-ball and more. The Tae Kwon Do program for ages 5 years thr ough adult is led by a team of certified ATA instructors under the leaders hip of Master Instructor Pamela Gedman.
\nThe Y’s dance program is under the direction of Mariana Tsortolia who gra duated from the Merce Cunningham Studio. The January-June session is regi stering now with classes including ballet and tap\, jazz and hip hop and b allet and jazz for ages 4-9. The introductory “Little Movers” class for a ges 3-5 years registers for an 8-week session.
\nOver 50 land and water fitness classes are included with full memb erships. Water Fitness classes provide cardio and strength training benef its for all ages and fitness levels with all classes taught by instructors certified in aquatic exercise. Land fitness classes include Yoga\, Pilate s\, TRX\, Spin\, Zumba and more! Lite/low impact classes are perfect for b eginners\, seniors and those with special health issues who can gain benef its from participating in Barre\, Ageless Grace\, Delay the Disease Sit ‘N Be Fit\, Healthy Bones\, Lite Total Body Fitness and more.
\nTeens can register for Friday night Team Play basketb all from 6:00-7:15pm for grades 4-5 and 7:30-8:45pm for grades 6-8. The f irst half of every night is focused on skills and the second half is devot ed to game play officiated by Y coaches. And\, for the first time\, we are bringing the GWACC Health and Wellness EXPO to Downtown Wes tfield. The Presbyterian Church is within walking distance to stores\, res taurants and municipal parking lots in Westfield. The Expo is FREE to the public and this year we plan to have Healthy food available to the attende es for purchase. Whether you have questions about your cell phone\, laptop\, Ipad or other device\, these tech-savvy teens are ready to help!
\nJust bring your device and questions to the Y. Light refreshments provided. The event is free b ut registration is requested by October 3 online or in-person.

E ither way\, on Wednesday\, October 19 from 7:30am-2:30pm\, we invite you t o drop off clothes\, shoes\, belts\, handbags\, comforters\, sheets\, curt ains\, towels\, bedding\, stuffed animals\, small plastic toys\, bikes\, s cooters and strollers on the tarp in the parking lot of the Bauer Branch\, 422 East Broad Street in Westfield. (Note: shoes must be bagged separa tely).
\nPlease note: we cannot accept p ots and pans\, books\, board games\, sports equipment\, electronics\, glas s\, furniture\, VCR tapes\, outdoor play sets or appliances.
\nThe A & E Clothing Corp collects American second han d clothing and other items and resells them in the US and to other develop ing countries.
\nProceeds benefit the Y’s financial assistance program which ensures that no one who is experiencin g a bona fide financial hardship and lives or works in Westfield\, Cranfor d\, Garwood or Mountainside is turned away for inability to pay for Y prog rams or memberships. The majority of awards enable participation in the Y ’s early learning and school age child care programs.

Now more than ever\, it is crucial for us as community members to stand together & fight to end the overdose epidemic\, support recovery\, and keep our children safe. This ev ent raises funds for that effort and combines it with free games and enter tainment\, food trucks\, and more.

The Westfiel d Area YMCA invites the community to celebrate the holiday season at “Swim with Santa” on Sunday\, December 11th at the Main Y Facility located at 2 20 Clark Street in Westfield.
\nCome as a family! Participants choos e a 30-minute time slot between 1:15-3:30 pm to swim with Santa and his el ves. A parent or guardian must be in the pool with children under age 6 or children who can’t swim. Before or after your time in the pool\, enjoy m ore fun with holiday arts & crafts.
