Dear Friends of Hanson Park Conservancy\,
\nPlease h
elp HPC honor those we’ve lost to COVID-19 by contributing to a Memorial B
ench.
\nCOVID-19 has taken the lives of over 150 residents of Cranfor
d. HPC would like to honor those lives by placing a Memorial Bench next to
the Butterfly Garden –– a beautiful and serene place for remembrance and
reflection.
All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to this memorial. Please contribute any dollar amount that you wish towards t his memorial\, which remembers our fellow residents. The bench is expected to be installed later this year and will include a plaque in tribute to t hose we’ve lost.
\nThe unique Hanson Park benches are hand-made by a
craftsman in upstate New York. They were chosen as part of the original d
esign which envisioned a passive environmentally sensitive park along the
Rahway River.
\nTax-exempt contributions can be made by mailing a che
ck directly to HPC PO Box 542\, Cranford\, NJ 07016\, visiting our website
at www.hansonparkconservancy.com\, or t
hrough our Facebook page.
We’d like to thank the entire community
of Cranford for always supporting HPC.
\nFeel free to visit the park
at 38 Springfield Avenue\, Cranford\, NJ. Details on the bench installatio
n will be provided at a later date.

\nSince the first nationwide fundraiser in 2011\, Jersey Mike’s annual Month of Giving has r aised more than $32 million for local charities.
\nThanks to the Y’s financial assistance program\, no one experien cing a bona fide financial hardship that lives or works in Cranford\, Garw ood\, Mountainside\, or Westfield is turned away for inability to pay. The Union County Rugby Football Club\, located in New Je rsey\, has been in operation since 1974 and touts over 1\,000 club members from kindergarten age to adult. We offer both touch and tackle rugby team s that play year-round. The Club will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in three short years\, and we are beginning to fundraise and draw awarenes s to this monumental event. In addition to the 50th\, we are also preparin g to start a modified season\, our first since we lost 2 full seasons to t he Coronavirus Pandemic. Since we were not able to gather on the field las t year\, we have decided to host a virtual race encompassing all of the ru gby clubs in NJ to foster some friendly competition and to get people exci ted for the possible restart of competitive play this Spring.
\nChal lenge yourself to one (or multiple) of the virtual race options by logging your total accumulated mileage over a time frame of your choosing. (doesn ’t have to be done all at once & you can walk\, run\, or bike!)
\nIf you sign up for 2 races at the same time you will receive a 10% discount on your registration automatically.
\nThe Home Field Loop: 13.1 miles covers the same distance you would if you were to travel b etween all of the pitches Union County Rugby plays home games on. This wou ld take you from Rahway River Park in Rahway to Madison Avenue Park also i n Rahway\, to Unami Park in Cranford\, to Warinaco Park in Roselle\, and b ack to the start at Rahway River Park.
\nThe River Run: 42 miles is the combined distance of the two mightiest waterways running through Union County\, the Rahway River\, and the Elizabeth River.
\n< p>The Jersey Cup: 257 Miles is a daunting task\, but covers the same distance you would if you hopped in your car to tour all of the h ome pitches of New Jersey’s NINE rugby clubs. This route goes south to nor th and would take you from Jersey Shore to South Jersey to Monmouth to Pri nceton to Union to Bayonne to Morris to Montclair to North Jersey. This ev ent has its own special medal and shirt that are different from the Home F ield Loop and The River Run.\n\n
