The Westfield Area YMCA is partnering with Jersey Mike’s S ubs located at 144 East Broad Street in Westfield for the 11th annual Marc h “Month of Giving” fundraising campaign. The campaign culminates in the J ersey Mike’s “Day of Giving” on Wednesday\, March 31. On that day\, the W estfield Jersey Mike’s location will donate 100% of the day’s sales to hel p send a kid in need to camp or child care at the Westfield Area YMCA this year. “The Y is thankful and appreciative of Jersey Mike’s continued gen erosity\,” stated Bonnie Cohen\, Westfield Area YMCA Director of Communica tions and Development.

Friends of the Performing Arts is thrilled to be sponsoring the first-ever Cranford Film Festival. The festival\, which will run from Sat \, April 17th – Sun\, April 25th\, features a collec tion of 50 short films from around the world in the categories of fiction\ , documentary\, animation\, music videos\, and student films. Two nights w ill be dedicated to NJ-based selections\, among them 7 Cranford-based film makers’ works!
\nDue to COVID\, the festi val will take place virtually so you can watch all the films from the comf ort of your own home! \n\nKick off the New Year at the Y and enjoy programs and classes for the entire family. \nThe Y offers an extensive swim lesson program that accommodates all abi lities and helps foster a sense of achievement as swimmers progress. Pare nt/child classes introduce children ages 6 months to 3 years to the water. For youth and teens\, the water safety and stroke development curriculum allows swimmers to develop at their own pace. The Y also offers individu al lessons and can create a class for small groups/pods.
\nYouth sports classes include basketball\, sports sampler \, soccer\, t-ball and more. The Tae Kwon Do program for ages 5 years thr ough adult is led by a team of certified ATA instructors under the leaders hip of Master Instructor Pamela Gedman.
\nThe Y’s dance program is under the direction of Mariana Tsortolia who gra duated from the Merce Cunningham Studio. The January-June session is regi stering now with classes including ballet and tap\, jazz and hip hop and b allet and jazz for ages 4-9. The introductory “Little Movers” class for a ges 3-5 years registers for an 8-week session.
\nOver 50 land and water fitness classes are included with full memb erships. Water Fitness classes provide cardio and strength training benef its for all ages and fitness levels with all classes taught by instructors certified in aquatic exercise.
