We offer four levels of participation and participants can ea rn mileage in any way that works for them – running\, biking\, walking\, h iking\, cycling\, elliptical\, rower\, swimming\, etc. This is a rolling s tart virtual event that can be completed anywhere in the world. The final day to input activity is August 31. After this period\, all of the partici pation materials will be sent out to the racers in the form of medals\, t- shirts\, and race bibs. Track Friday is a day of givin g back by supporting local charities while burning off some Thanksgiving c alories. On Friday\, November 26th\, Cranford residents are invited to run or walk at the Memorial Field Track and participate in trackside workout sessions from Garden State Athletics and Alluem Yoga.
\nThis year we ’ve added the inaugural Will DeGregorio Memorial Extra Mile\, a casual one mile run/walk honoring Will. A portion of this year’s proceeds will fund scholarships in Will’s name via the Cranford Police Athletic League.

Acevedo will lead a traditional Christmas Eve service with familiar Christ
mas carols\, perfect for families and all those who wish to celebrate with
full choirs and organ music. Music will be led by the Chancel Choir\, dir
ected by Elsa Hahn and accompanied by organist Robert Grube. Featured solo
ists include Lynn Pinto\, formerly with the Metropolitan Opera\, and local
recording artist\, Kelli Bruno. During the final hymn\, “Silent Night\, H
oly Night”\, the lights will be dimmed and candlelight will fill the Sanct
uary.
\nCan’t make it Christmas Eve? We’ll be back in the Sanctuary S
unday morning\, January 2\, at 10:00am for a relaxed and fun service of le
ssons and carols. The Service for December 26 will be prerecorded and onli

Presented by Cesar-Kai Karate Academy in partnership with the YWCA Union County\, the seminar will provide women in Union County with the skills and mindset nee ded to defend themselves through a combination of preventative measures\, heightened awareness\, and practical hands-on training in self-defense tec hniques. Among the topics to be covered: escapes from stranger and non-str anger attacks\, wrist release\, choke defense\, strikes\, hair grabs and g round drags\, and how to get out from under an attacker. Participants will also practice yelling and learn how to set boundaries and assert themselv es.
\nThe seminar is hands-on\, and participants are advised to wear comfortable clothing that allows ease of movement.
\nAlthough the s eminar is free\, a $25 donation is requested\, and participants must regis ter in advance. All proceeds will go to the YWCA Union County. To register \, call Cesar-Kai at 908-967-6571.
\nThe seminar will be led by Jen Pittman\, a Supervisory United States Probation Officer. She has received specialized training from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in C harleston\, South Carolina\, and has instructed her officers in defensive tactics and use of force since 2011. She is also a graduate of the Gracie University Survival Tactics program and has been a Gracie certified instru ctor since 2019.

The choir anthem will be ‘Love’s Redeeming Work is Done’ and we will all have the opportunity to sing the ‘Hallelujah Chorus’ at the conclusion of the liturgy.

\n\nThis year\, we celebrate our 95th anniversary preserving and perpetuating the history of the township of Cranford. On Sunday\, September 18th\, from 1- 5 pm\, the Society will re-open the Crane-Phillips House Museum f or a tour with a FALL FESTIVAL outside. We will have crafters showing and selling their crafts and face painting\, balloon making and crafts for th e children. Dreyer Farms will be on hand selling their mums\, pumpkins\, bales of hay\, corn stalks\, pies and donuts. The Cranford Historical Soc iety will sell ice cream cones and ice cream sodas and will have garage sa le items\, used books and our merchandise for sale. We will also have a h istory basket raffle and a 50/50 chance.

\n\nThe First Pre sbyterian Church of Cranford (FPCC) is preparing to offer its free\, 8-wee k\, grief recovery seminar\, “Journey Toward Wholeness: Healing the Grievi ng Heart\,” which takes place on Sunday evenings beginning September 18th until Sunday\, November 6th from 6:30 to 8:30pm. The seminar is being offe red on Zoom only. There is no charge\, but registration is required by cal ling (908) 251-5641.
\nExhausted\, depleted\, lonely\, and isolated are just a few of the terms that describe how we are feeling while navigat ing through an increasingly chaotic existence\, exacerbated by a pandemic\ , political conflict\, and extreme weather. When you are grieving a loss a mid all these stressors\, every day may seem dark and overwhelming.
\n< p>We offer a ray of light and welcome all grieving a loss of any type to j oin our seminar. The co-leaders of the program\, Patti Williams\, RN and C ertified Grief Counselor and Virginia Waters\, Clinical Psychologist\, hav e personal and professional training and experience in the field of grief and loss. They are joined by a team of trained facilitators who provide su pport and lead breakout groups for individuals who have experienced a simi lar loss.\nIn the words of a recent participant\, “Thank you and yo ur team for everything you are doing to create such necessary\, safe\, and encouraging bereavement healing space for these times. Being with other g rievers\, I felt myself soften into the truths of my loss in a profound wa y that I haven’t had the opportunity to do at all during this time of Covi d. I’m so grateful for that small step forward. I was also mightily impres sed by how well you all managed the technology to make this possible. Well done!”
