The Friends of the Cranford Public Library are happy to announce that its used book sales in the “Friendly Book Cellar” are returning. There wi ll be two separate sales in June\, a children’s book sale and an all-books sale.
\nOnline pre-registration is necessary. To register\, please go to cranfordlibrary.org and click on Friends of the Librar y. Attendance is limited to 45-minute sessions with each session beginning on the hour. Please note that all attendees are required to wear a facema sk.
\nThe children’s book sale will only be open to Cranford Library cardholders and attendees will not be able to purchase books from other s ections of the Cellar. The sale will take place on two days\, on June 4 fr om 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on June 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
\nThe all- books sale is open to the general public and will be held on three days\, on June 10 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.\, June 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.\, and o n June 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

\nJoin OMNY Taiko for an interactive Taiko performance! Tai ko (太鼓\, literally “big drum”) is a type of Japanese percussion that has b een played for well over 1\,000 years. Traditionally\, taiko were used in religious ceremonies\, festivals\, and as theatrical accompaniment. Kumi-d aiko\, or ensemble drumming\, was created in the 1950s. In kumi-daiko\, ma ny drummers play different-sized drums to create complex rhythms and styli zed performances. This style of taiko drumming has become extremely popula r and taiko groups have formed all across the world.

\n\nLiterary Café is a book chat p rogram. The format is simple: Bring a few of your recent favorite books an d tell the other members of the group what you like about them. If you don ’t have a copy of the book you want to talk about\, that’s okay\, too. The books can be new or old\, fiction or non-fiction\, classic or contemporar y. There is no required reading\, and you will have the opportunity to lea rn about books recommended by other group members. Attend as many sessions as you’d like. Admission is free and all are welcome. Light refreshments provided by the Friends of the Cranford Public Library.
