The Westfield Area YMCA is partnering with Jersey Mike’s S ubs located at 144 East Broad Street in Westfield for the 11th annual Marc h “Month of Giving” fundraising campaign. The campaign culminates in the J ersey Mike’s “Day of Giving” on Wednesday\, March 31. On that day\, the W estfield Jersey Mike’s location will donate 100% of the day’s sales to hel p send a kid in need to camp or child care at the Westfield Area YMCA this year. “The Y is thankful and appreciative of Jersey Mike’s continued gen erosity\,” stated Bonnie Cohen\, Westfield Area YMCA Director of Communica tions and Development.
\nSince the first nationwide fundraiser in 2011\, Jersey Mike’s annual Month of Giving has r aised more than $32 million for local charities.

Kick off the New Year at the Y and enjoy programs and classes for the entire family. Registration for th e Westfield Area YMCA Winter program session begins at 9:00am on Thursday\ , December 9 for Full Members and at 9:00am\, Monday\, December 13 for Bas ic and Non-Members. \nThe Y offers an extensive swim lesson program that accommodates all abi lities and helps foster a sense of achievement as swimmers progress. Pare nt/child classes introduce children ages 6 months to 3 years to the water. For youth and teens\, the water safety and stroke development curriculum allows swimmers to develop at their own pace. The Y also offers individu al lessons and can create a class for small groups/pods.
\nYouth sports classes include basketball\, sports sampler \, soccer\, t-ball and more. The Tae Kwon Do program for ages 5 years thr ough adult is led by a team of certified ATA instructors under the leaders hip of Master Instructor Pamela Gedman.
\nThe Y’s dance program is under the direction of Mariana Tsortolia who gra duated from the Merce Cunningham Studio. The January-June session is regi stering now with classes including ballet and tap\, jazz and hip hop and b allet and jazz for ages 4-9. The introductory “Little Movers” class for a ges 3-5 years registers for an 8-week session.
\nOver 50 land and water fitness classes are included with full memb erships. \nPlace your bags in your trunk\, drive up\, pop your tru nk and volunteers will remove them\, no contact needed! Your food donation s will be given to Cranford Family Care and St. Joseph’s Social Services. Please be sure that there is no expired food.

\n\nThe Westfield Area YMCA is proud to host Pizza Palooza on S unday\, October 1 from 12:30-2:00pm in the gym at the Main Y\, 220 Clark S treet. Tasting and voting will be from 12:30-1:30pm with the first\, seco nd and third place winners announced at 1:45pm.
\nTaste your way through participating Westfield\, Garwood and Moun tainside pizzerias and pick your favorite to win … everyone ages 4+ has a vote! As of September 19\, participating pizzerias are Calabria Pizzeria in Cranford\, Rudy’s Italian Restaurant in Garwood\, and Casa Di Pizza\, F erraro’s\, Fiamma Wood Fired Pizza and Outta Hard Pizza in Westfield.
\nA $15 contribution for adults and children ages 4+ benefits the Y’s Annual Support Campaign\, which ensures that no one who is experiencing a bona fide financial hardship and lives or works in Westfield\, Cranford\, Garwood or Mountainside is turned away for inabi lity to pay for Y programs or memberships. The majority of awards enable participation in the Y’s early learning\, school age and summer day camp p rograms.

If you have clothing or other accepted i tems that you’re looking to part with\, bring them on Wednesday\, October 18 from 7:30 am – 3:30 pm to the parking lot of the Bauer Branch Family YM CA\, located at 422 East Broad Street in Westfield. Donations are only acc epted at this location during these hours. Accepted items include clothes\ , shoes (must be bagged separately)\, belts\, handbags\, comforters\, shee ts\, curtains\, towels\, bedding\, stuffed animals\, small toys (2 ft. or less)\, bikes\, scooters\, and strollers.
\nPlease note that we cann ot accept pots and pans\, books\, board games\, sports equipment\, electro nics\, glass\, furniture\, VCR tapes\, outdoor play sets\, or appliances.< /p>\n
Items are collected by the A & E Clothing Corporation which gather s second-hand clothing and other items and resells them in the US and to o ther developing countries.
