The Union County Rugby Football Club\, located in New Jersey\, has been in operatio n since 1974 and touts over 1\,000 club members from kindergarten age to a dult. We offer both touch and tackle rugby teams that play year-round. The Club will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in three short years\, and we are beginning to fundraise and draw awareness to this monumental event. In addition to the 50th\, we are also preparing to start a modified seaso n\, our first since we lost 2 full seasons to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Si nce we were not able to gather on the field last year\, we have decided to host a virtual race encompassing all of the rugby clubs in NJ to foster s ome friendly competition and to get people excited for the possible restar t of competitive play this Spring.
\nChallenge yourself to one (or m ultiple) of the virtual race options by logging your total accumulated mil eage over a time frame of your choosing. (doesn’t have to be done all at o nce & you can walk\, run\, or bike!)
\nIf you sign up for 2 races at the same time you will receive a 10% discount on your registration automa tically.
\nThe Home Field Loop: 13.1 miles covers the same distance you would if you were to travel between all of the pitches U nion County Rugby plays home games on. This would take you from Rahway Riv er Park in Rahway to Madison Avenue Park also in Rahway\, to Unami Park in Cranford\, to Warinaco Park in Roselle\, and back to the start at Rahway River Park.
\nThe River Run: 42 miles is the combined distance of the two mightiest waterways running through Union County\, the Rahway River\, and the Elizabeth River.
\nThe Jersey Cup: 257 Miles is a daunting task\, but covers the same distance you would if you hopped in your car to tour all of the home pitches of New Jersey’s NINE rugby clubs. This route goes south to north and would take you from Jersey Shore to South Jersey to Monmouth to Princeton to Union to Bayonne to Morris to Montclair to North Jersey. This event has its own special med al and shirt that are different from the Home Field Loop and The River Run .

\nRelay For Life is a grassroots\, community-based team event.
\nAlthough every Relay For Life event is different\, they do have a few things in common.
\nEvent Schedule
\nTime to get started. We kick off the event by honoring e veryone who’s been affected by cancer and everyone who has contributed to the success of this year’s Relay season.
\nSurvivors and Caregivers are the heart and soul of Relay For Life events. We honor their strength and courage with every s tep they take. It doesn’t matter if you were diagnosed 10 days ago or 10 y ears ago\, you can walk while everyone gathers together to cheer you on. p>\n
During this ceremony\ , we represent everyone touched by cancer with a Luminaria. Each light rep resents a life—a life taken by cancer\, a survivor of cancer\, or support for a person still fighting the disease. It’s a powerful demonstration tha t gives people the opportunity to grieve but also offers comfort and hope.
\n\n
Our closing ceremony is the time to commit to take action and help lead the fight for a world free from cancer. It’s a time to celebrate what we’ve accomplishe d together and a time to unify for the work that needs to be done moving f orward.
