Borough’s Arbor Day Ceremony is a fantastic event every year\,” said Mayo

to attend to get hands-on experience with tree planting.”\nThis event is f

On Friday\
, April 29th\, the Borough of Roselle Park will be celebrating Arbor Day 2
022 with its
\nannual Arbor Day Ceremony beginning at 10:00 a.m. at S
herman Elementary School\, located at
\n375 East Grant Avenue. The an
nual tree-planting ceremony will be followed by the distribution
\nof
seedlings to attendees.
\n
This year’s ceremony will be celebrating
the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day. Arbor Day’s roots
\nlie in Nebras
ka when in 1872\, a journalist by the name of Julius Sterling Morton moved
to
\nNebraska City and purchased 160 acres of land. There\, he plant
ed a wide variety of trees and
\nshrubs and would spread his knowledg
e of trees in his work as editor of the state’s newspaper.
\nHe propo
sed a day where everyone could reflect the appreciation of all trees\, and
Arbor Day
\nwas born.
\n
“The Borough’s Arbor Day Ceremony is a
fantastic event every year\,” said Mayor Joe
\nSignorello. “This yea
r we will be planting a Redbud tree and distributing 500 seedlings to
\neveryone who attends – it’s a great way to create environmental awarene
ss here in Roselle
\nPark. I encourage all residents to attend to get
hands-on experience with tree planting.”
\nThis event is free to att
end and open to all Roselle Park residents. For more information\, please<
br />\ncall 908-245-0666.
