\n\nCranford Wa lking Tour Inaugurates Historic QR Code Signs
\nOn Sunday\, May 22 a t 2 p.m.\, the Cranford Historic Preservation Advisory Board (HPAB) will c onduct a walking tour of historic sites with new QR (quick response) codes . The tour will also feature additional facts about the downtown and surro unding areas.
\nParticipants will meet in front of the First Baptist Church of Cranford at 100 High Street\, which is the first site on the to ur. There is a suggested fee of $5\, payable in cash or check (made payabl e to Cranford Historic Preservation Advisory Board or Cranford HPAB) to he lp fund its work.
\nHPAB is a volunteer advisory board appointed by the Cranford Township Committee. Its primary purpose is to help residents recognize the significance of noteworthy historic buildings\, steetscapes\ , and districts to emphasize the importance of preserving these resources so they can be enjoyed by current and future generations. Preserving histo ric buildings\, streetscapes\, and districts helps the architectural and a esthetic character of Cranford and its neighborhoods remain intact.
\n< p>Some of the things that HPAB does to accomplish its goals includes resea rching properties and districts and applying for Certificates of Eligibili ty for inclusion on the State and National Historic Registers as well as s eeking to have properties and districts designated as historic by the Town ship.\nFor more information about the HPAB\, visit our website at p reservecranford.com.
\n\nThis year\, we celebrate our 95th anniver sary preserving and perpetuating the history of the township of Cranford. On Sunday\, September 18th\, from 1- 5 pm\, the Society will re-open the Crane-Phillips House Museum for a tour with a FALL FESTI VAL outside. We will have crafters showing and selling their crafts and f ace painting\, balloon making and crafts for the children. Dreyer Farms w ill be on hand selling their mums\, pumpkins\, bales of hay\, corn stalks\ , pies and donuts. The Cranford Historical Society will sell ice cream co nes and ice cream sodas and will have garage sale items\, used books and o ur merchandise for sale. We will also have a history basket raffle and a 50/50 chance.
\nThe society is looking for Crafters\, face painting artists\, balloon making artists and a band. All spaces are $20 and must bring your own table and chair. If you can participate\, call or email us !
