Cranford District Management Corporation (DMC)

The DMC is a Township entity charged with economic revitilization and marketing for the Special Improvement District (SID), an area comprised of almost 200 properties in 83 acres.  There are more than 250 businesses located in the SID; 190 retail uses in approx. 309,000 SF; approx 50,000 SF of office space; and almost 1,000 apartments/ condo units in the SID and immediate area.

The DMC has played a major role in advancing redevelopment activities in Cranford, including Cranford Crossing and the Riverfront area.  The DMC has proposed several zoning revisions to attract and assist retail, proposed parking improvements, applied for and received $797,000 in grants, including the $200,000 Transit Village Grant. 

The DMC is currently involved in the major Transit Village study of traffic and pedestrian safety and parking needs. The DMC was awarded a second Smart Growth grant which is being used for a land use study of the South Avenue corridor. For more information all of these projects can be found by clicking on Economic Revitalization

The DMC has one full time Director, and two part time assistants.  The DMC contributes to the salary of a Public Works employee for maintenance projects.  The Township Committee appoints the 11 member DMC Board to represent three groups: downtown property owners, downtown business owners and residents.
