Each year, The Theater Project, an award winning professional theater company founded in 1994, invites New Jersey high school students to submit plays to its Young Playwrights Competition. The 2013 award winning plays--or portions of the plays--will be read by members of the The Theater Project. Each winning playwright will receive a savings bond, and the Honorable Mention playwrights will receive citations and gift certificates. The competition was inspired by a generous donation from Linden resident Bill Mesce, Jr., an award-winning playwright and screenwriter, whose novel “The Advocate” was published by Bantam Books. The Friends of the Cranford Library have donated prizes for the contest. Admission to the program is free and all are invited.
