    Coming this summer is a Cholesterol Screening on Thursday, July 10th from 10:00 am-Noon and a Bone Density Screening for women only on Thursday, August 14th from 10:00 am-Noon. Both screenings are done at the Westfield Area Y, 220 Clark Street in Westfield. There is a $10 fee and reservations are encouraged. Please call 1-800-247-9580 to register.     Vincent P. Falk is Fashion Man. Clad in brightly colored suits, Vincent twirls on Chicago’s many bridges, performing fashion shows for passing tour boats. As he spins his way through the city, tourists and locals alike are left to wonder just who this strange man could be. Over the course of one boat season, we follow Vincent and begin to unravel the mystery that surrounds him.--vincentalifeincolor.com. The film's running length is 96 minutes. Access to the sale is through the side door of the library, just off the main parking lot. Proceeds benefit the library.

    The Friends of the Cranford Public Library are pleased to sponsor an appearance by novelist and Cranford resident Joseph Colicchio. Mr. Colicchio is the author of three novels, “High Gate Health and Beauty” (Creative Arts, 2000), “The Trouble with Mental Wellness” (Bridge Works, 2004), and “As Told by Monk.” Originally published in 1980, “As Told by Monk” was re-issued by Octobre Press in November 2013. “High Gate Health and Beauty” was named a top-ten novel of the year by MostlyFiction.com, and “The Trouble with Mental Wellness” was named a recommended book by Library Journal. All of Mr. Colicchio’s novels are set in Jersey City, where he grew up. He will talk about and read from “As Told by Monk.” Mr. Colicchio has completed two residencies at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, received two Geraldine R. Dodge grants, and two New Jersey State Council on the Arts grants, including the Distinguished Artist Award, the highest the state bestows. He is an Associate Professor of English at Hudson County Community College in Jersey City. Copies of “As Told by Monk,” “High Gate Health and Beauty,” and “The Trouble with Mental Wellness” will be available for purchase and for signing. Admission is free and all are welcome.
