Having just recovered from a heart attack, fabled British barrister Sir Wilfred Robards (Charles Laughton) has been ordered by his doctor to give up everything he holds dear-brandy, cigars and especially courtroom cases. Robards' already shaky resolve to follow doctor's orders flies out the window when he takes up the defense of Leonard Vole (Tyrone Power), a personable young man accused of murdering a rich old widow. The case becomes something of a sticky wicket when Vole's "loving" wife Christine (Marlene Dietrich) announces that she's not legally married to Robards' client-and she fully intends to appear as a witness for the prosecution!--All Movie

The Friends of the Cranford Public Library are very pleased to welcome back the Bloomfield Mandolin Orchestra. The Orchestra is currently celebrating its 74th season. The origins of the Orchestra go back to 1941, when a group of six New Jersey musicians met in the backroom of a barbershop to discuss their dream of forming a mandolin orchestra. In 1945 they formed the Orange and Vicinities Mandolin Society, under the direction of Elia Ciricillo; in the 1960s, members of four different mandolin orchestras merged to form the Bloomfield Mandolin Orchestra. The Orchestra is made up of volunteer musicians from northern and central New Jersey and is the last one of its kind in the state. Admission to the program is free and all are welcome.

Clint Eastwood's Oscar-winner examines the mythic violence of the Western, taking on the ghosts of his own star past. Disgusted by Sheriff "Little Bill" Daggett's decree that several ponies make up for a cowhand's slashing a whore's face, Big Whiskey prostitutes, led by fierce Strawberry Alice take justice into their own hands and put a $1000 bounty on the lives of the perpetrators. Notorious outlaw-turned-hog farmer William Munny (Eastwood) is sought out by neophyte gunslinger the Schofield Kid to go with him to Big Whiskey and collect the bounty. While Munny insists, "I ain't like that no more," he needs the bounty money for his children, and the two men convince Munny's clean-living comrade Ned Logan to join them in righting a wrong done to a woman.—All Movie
