The Westfield Area Y is taking steps to educate and protect children within our community by participating in the “Darkness to Light” program, a “Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training”. This program educates adults to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The training session will help adults build awareness on what to look for and steps to follow in order to protect our children. The training is for adults only and open to members and the community. Interested participants should register in person at the Welcome Center or online by October 10th.

The Cranford Historical Society’s Crane-Phillips House Museum will once again participate in Union County’s popular annual program, “Four Centuries in a Weekend.” Come and find out what life was like in the 1870’s. Members of the 2nd Rhode Island Volunteers Company D will set up an encampment on the grounds. They will be dressed in Civil War uniforms and period clothes. Please drop by to see and chat with them and learn how soldiers and their families lived during the Civil War.
The Crane-Phillips House Museum is available as our own local history museum through the hard work of volunteers and members of the Cranford Historical Society. It has received generous support from the Society, Union County Freeholders, Cranford citizens and the Township of Cranford.
Various materials about the weekend-long self-guided tour can be found at the Union County Division of Cultural and Heritage Affairs as well as the individual sites. The materials include a booklet with photos and a map of the sites.
