Give a child the gift of reading by bringing a NEW, unwrapped book to the library collection box. Books for children from preschool through age fourteen are needed. Established in 1991, “Books for Kids” is a statewide program sponsored by the Children’s Services Section of the New Jersey Library Association. Book donations will be accepted through Saturday, December 13. They will be distributed by the Cranford Family Care Association to local families in need.

Cranford Community Center 220 Walnut Avenue

The Friends of the Cranford Public Library are pleased to welcome a visit from the Wandering Bards. Admission to the program is free and all are welcome. Between and among them, the five-man troupe plays harmonica, kazoo, accordion, musical saw, jaw harp, bass, cajon, kalimba, steel pan, violin, guitar, banjitar and djembe. Giving off a neo-Vaudevillian vibe, they'll make you laugh, sing, and do any old thing with their heady mix of blue-eyed blues, dark Gypsy grooves, and foot-stomping party tunes. The Bards appear regularly in a number of clubs in the Union County area and have also appeared at the Fire on the Mountain Solstice Celebration in Kintnersville, Pennsylvania, the Ocean Place Resort in Long Branch, the Newark Bears Baseball Block Party, and the Black Potato Festival in Clinton.
