POLICE EXPLORER POST #74

Law Enforcement Exploring (affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America) is a program designed to educate and involve youth in police operations and to interest them in law enforcement functions whether they enter police work or not.  Through involvement, the Explorer program establishes an awareness of the complexities of police service.   Post members are given an opportunity to see firsthand the efforts of sworn personnel and later share their observations with their peer group.  In this way, the basic tenets of civic responsibility can be instilled. Since 1982, the Cranford Police Department has sponsored and hosted Law Enforcement Explorer Post #74. Several officers volunteer their own time to serve as advisors, coordinators and ride-along host officers.   Some of the activities that Explorers participate in are:  Ride-Alongs with experienced police officers on patrol, classroom and practical training on various aspects of police work, and field trips to annual State "police academies" which includes competitions and additional training.  To date, eleven former Post members have been appointed to the Cranford Police Department as regular officers and many others have successfully entered law enforcement in other areas (like the US Secret Service and the NJ State Police)!! If you are between ages 14 and 21, and are interested in joining the Explorer Post, or would like to obtain more information, please contact any one of the Advisors listed below.

Participants must be Cranford residents or reside in an area town without a similar program.
