A Musical Tribute to Asia Minor @ Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church
Oct 18 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

A cultural event hosted by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Westfield NJ on October 18 at 7PM – A musical tribute to Asia Minor.

The long history of Asia Minor began as in the prehistoric years settlements from the islands gravitated across the Aegean to the northern and eastern shores of Asia Minor clearly establishing a Greek presence which continued until 1922 when with the destruction of Smyrna ended this centuries-old civilization. This Musical Tribute will embody the history and the events which led up to this sad history as well as how music has assisted in keeping alive the memories. Another way of saying “Never Forget!”

4 Centuries In A Weekend @ Crane-Phillips House Museum
Oct 19 @ 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
4 Centuries In A Weekend @ Crane-Phillips House Museum | Cranford | New Jersey | United States

The Cranford Historical Society’s Crane-Phillips House Museum at 124 North Union Avenue will once again participate in Union County’s Annual “Four Centuries in a Weekend.” The museum will be open on Saturday, October 19th from 10:00am to 5:00pm and on Sunday, October 20th from 12:00pm to 5:00pm. This year’s theme is “Saving The Past and Moving Forward to Technology of the Present.”

The Crane-Phillips House Museum, a Victorian Cottage, modest home of the 1870’s, shows what life was like without plumbing or electricity. During Four Centuries in a Weekend, visitors will see how implements in the kitchen and throughout the house have evolved through technology and pictures will be at each implement showing the technology of today. All of the inventions in the past are hands on to all who would like to try them to see what it was like to do household chores, etc. Also, Trustees and Volunteers will be on hand to give a tour of each room in the unique living museum which is on the National and State Registry.

Materials for the weekend tour are available from the Union County Division of Cultural and Heritage Affairs Office and will be at all sites. The materials include a booklet featuring photos and info about each site with a map showing the locations. For more info, please call the Union County Division of Cultural and Heritage Affairs at 908-558-2550 or visit http://ucnj.org/parks-recreation/cultural-heritage-affairs/historic-sites-map/
