“How Trees Work”

Please join us at Hanson Park on Wednesday, August 21st at 10:00 AM for “How Trees Work,” an educational program for 3rd-5th graders.  During this free, hour-long class, students will learn all about trees from Master Tree Steward, Dean Talcott.  Some of the topics covered will include: why leaves fall, the types of trees in NJ, how to tell the age of a tree and all about maple sugaring.  A round of Tree Jeopardy will be played, all while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the park.

Hanson Park is located at 38 Springfield Ave. in Cranford, NJ.  This program is recommended for children in third through fifth grade.  Registration is not required.  In the event of inclement weather, we will be relocating to the Cranford Community Center at 220 Walnut Ave.  This presentation is sponsored by the Hanson Park Conservancy, a non-profit group dedicated to developing and maintaining Hanson Park and providing the community with educational programs and workshops.  To learn more, please visit our website, www.hansonparkconservancy.com

Hanson Park Conservancy's 9th Annual Duck Race @ Sperry Park | Cranford | New Jersey | United States

Hanson Park Conservancy’s 9th Annual Rubber Ducky Derby is scheduled once again for Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 4 pm. On race day, over one-thousand individually numbered rubber ducks will be released in the Rahway River at Sperry Park, Cranford NJ and tumble over the falls racing to the finish line at the North Union Ave Bridge. Numerous prizes for the fastest lucky duckies will be awarded. The top prize is a $250.00 gift card.

Tickets can be purchased at two locations: Periwinkles, on North Union Avenue downtown Cranford, or the Cranford Canoe Club on Springfield Ave. Purchase a single Duck for $5.00 or a flock of 5 ducks for $20.00. Please secure your tickets early as ducks are limited and the race has been known to sell out.

All proceeds benefit Hanson Park maintenance and educational programs. If you have not yet walked through this lovely little park, please visit this hidden gem located at 38 Springfield Ave. Have you got your Ducky?
