CENSUS JOB FAIR! @ Casano Community Center
Oct 23 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
CENSUS JOB FAIR! @ Casano Community Center | Roselle Park | New Jersey | United States

Roselle Park – The Borough of Roselle Park and the U.S. Census Bureau will be co-hosting a job fair for residents interested in working for the U.S. Census Bureau in late 2019 and early 2020.

The 2020 Census Job Fair is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the Casano Community Center (314 Chestnut Street).

At this job fair and information session, people will be able to learn about why the census is important to their community and find out what job opportunities are available to the residents of Roselle Park. Applications can be completed online. Applicants can even use their smartphones to apply. Census staff will be available to help with the application and answer questions.

The U.S. Census Bureau is looking to hire 63,000 people in the state of New Jersey for a variety of positions. There are field positions (e.g. enumerators) and office positions (e.g. clerks and IT specialists) available. The hours are flexible. Once hired you give the U.S. Census Bureau your hours of availability each week and you will only be asked to work during those hours. You are paid for training as well.

The goal of the 2020 census is to “count everyone once, only once, and in the right place,” the Census Bureau says. The United States holds a census every 10 years.

Those interested in a 2020 census job can apply online at www.2020census.gov/jobs.

“Who Is That At My Feeder?” @ Cranford Community Center
Nov 12 @ 7:00 pm
“Who Is That At My Feeder?” @ Cranford Community Center | Cranford | New Jersey | United States
Calling all bird lovers!  Please join the Hanson Park Conservancy on Tuesday, November 12th at 7:00 PM at the Cranford Community Center for the presentation, “Who Is That At My Feeder?” Pete Axelrod from Wild Birds Unlimited of Scotch Plains will discuss how attracting birds is a great way to bring us closer to nature while offering hours of enjoyment.  This program will introduce us to the birds that commonly come to backyard feeders and how to distinguish between very similar species. He will also discuss unusual birds that have appeared this season.  Birds add another dimension to the artistry of a garden with their striking colors, behaviors and allure of their songs!

Pete has been a nature enthusiast since the age of five.  His passion led him to study Wildlife Biology and Natural History Interpretation.  Pete has volunteered in avian population studies, wild bird rehabilitation, habitat restoration, wildlife education and birding ventures throughout New Jersey (with NJ Audubon, Friends of Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge and The Raptor Trust). He enjoys cycling, kayaking and hiking and always has his binoculars handy!

The Cranford Community Center is located at 220 Walnut Ave. in Cranford, NJ.  The program is free and open to the public.  No registration is required, but seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  This presentation is sponsored by the Hanson Park Conservancy.  To learn more, please visit our website, www.hansonparkconservancy.com or like us on Facebook.
