Enjoy the outdoors and a variety of foods at the fest sponsored by the Cranford Area Chamber of Commerce. It takes place at CEC Research, 16 Commerce Drive between 11:30 and 2.

Concert in the Park featuring the Hector Morales Salsa Band @ Warinanco Sports Center

The Union County Board of County Commissioners is proud to present “Concert in the Park,” a free musical celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month featuring the Hector Morales Salsa Band on Saturday, October 16, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. outdoors at Union County’s Warinanco Sports Center, located at 1 Park Drive in Warinanco Park, in Roselle.

The first 150 participants will receive a free food voucher for use at the concert.

The free concert caps a month of Hispanic Heritage Month activities sponsored by the Commissioner Board, including the raising of the County’s first-ever Hispanic Heritage flag at the County Courthouse in Elizabeth, a family movie night double feature at Plainfield High School in Plainfield, a family fun day at Rahway River Park in Rahway, and a countywide virtual art exhibit.

“The Commissioner Board is proud to support Hispanic Heritage Month and encourage people from all walks of life to unite in the enjoyment of cultural events, in recognition of the leading role of the Hispanic community throughout Union County,” said Commissioner Board Chairman Alexander Mirabella.

“It is fitting to conclude our series of Hispanic Heritage Month in Union County with music, the great uniter of people all over the world,” said Commissioner Sergio Granados. “I am proud to be one of almost 200,000 Hispanic residents that make Union County a wonderful place to live, and I welcome this opportunity to share Hispanic culture throughout the community.”

“As a Cuban-American woman, I am proud to work with my colleagues on the Commissioner Board to help foster appreciation for the diverse cultures that contribute so much to the Union County community,” said Commissioner Lourdes Leon. “We are all looking forward to a wonderful event.”

In addition to showcasing the Hector Morales Salsa Band, Concert in the Park will feature an awards ceremony recognizing the contributions of three outstanding members of the Hispanic community in Union County: George A. Castro II, owner of the Premier Homes real estate firm in Roselle Park; Juanita Vargas, Vice President of Programs and Operations at United Way of Greater Union County; and Union County Undersheriff Amilcar “Mickey” Colon.

Food trucks will be on-site and residents are welcome to bring their own picnic.

Union County residents seeking to be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus can use Union County’s free vaccination service, available at the site from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. COVID-19 tests will also be available free of charge to Union County residents.

Great Pumpkin Carve Out @ Hanson Park

Great Pumpkin Carve Out @ Hanson Park

Jersey Central Art Studio, with support from the Cranford Jaycees, will host the 2021 Great Pumpkin Carve Out on Saturday, October 23rd (Saturday, October 30th rain date. For updates check All the activities will take place at Hanson Park, 38 Springfield Avenue in Cranford, NJ. The pumpkin carving contest is a FREE event and is open to all ages. Individuals can drop off their creatively carved pumpkins from 10 am until 3 pm at Hanson Park at 38 Springfield Ave, Cranford on Saturday, October 23rd along with a completed registration form (also available on-site).
Everyone is invited to come to Hanson Park starting at 6 pm-9 pm to stroll along the pumpkin-lighted garden paths to see the carved pumpkins on display, each on its own pedestal. Cash awards will be given for funniest, scariest, and most original and will be grouped by ages; 4-8, 9-16, and 17 and up.
In addition, a big-screen outdoor showing of a surprise favorite movie will start at dark. Bring your blankets! The movie, stroll, and contest are all free, and hot cider will be available for purchase.
Registration forms will be available online at before the event. At the event’s conclusion, all pumpkins can be picked up.
This will be the seventh GREAT PUMPKIN CARVE out, which has drawn hundreds of visitors throughout the area. This is a Jersey Central Art Studio’s (JCAS) Event, with much support from the Cranford Jaycees. JCAS is a group of artists and citizens dedicated to raising awareness of the arts and the artistic process as well as integrating the arts into the community through education, events, and economic development. We see art as a vital component of our lives and one that will also enrich our community.

Cranford Halloween Parade, Costume Contest, & Pumpkin Chunkin’ @ Cranford Community Center

The 21st Annual Brian Jenkins Memorial Cranford Halloween Parade, Costume Contest, and Pumpkin Chunkin’ return on Halloween at the Community Center.

Costume contest check-in starts at 12:45 PM through 1:30 in the Community Center parking lot.
The parade then begins in the lot at 1:30 and goes downtown to North Union Ave for the Pumpkin Chunkin’ finale (weather permitting).

Costume contest categories are 0-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-17, Best Duo or Trio, and Best Group.
Plus we’ll have a special online-only contest for Best Adult and Best Pet.
