In the spirit of the National Memorial Day Program, the Cranford Memorial Day Committee will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27, 2019. Members of the Governing body of Garwood will participate in the parade and all residents are encouraged to attend.

The parade will assemble at 8:30 a.m. at the Cranford Community Center, 220 Walnut Avenue, Cranford, New Jersey. Marching will start at 9 a.m. The parade will finish with services at approximately 10 a.m. at Memorial Park on Springfield Avenue. In case of inclement weather, services only will be held at the Community Center.

St. Michael Church Memorial Day Parish Picnic @ St. Michael Church

St. Michael Church will host its third annual Memorial Day Parish Picnic, Monday, May 27, 12:00-3:00 p.m. following the township memorial service. The picnic will take place alongside the church on Miln Street. There will be food, music, games, crafts, and fun for all ages!

There will also be a collection for Operation Chillout at the picnic.

Join Alluem Yoga at Dreyer Farms for an evening of yoga and farm fresh food to get you grounded and back to the earth! Breathe the fresh air in a yoga class with Gina, then enjoy a taste from the delicious Dreyer Farms! Have you ever wanted to see what is inside the Hanson House? If so, join us on Sunday, June 2nd at 2 pm when the Society will open its doors to the public to enjoy a tour of the building. After hearing a brief history of Hanson House you will learn about the lives of the Cranford artists Leslie and Alice Crump and will view the Society’s collection of their art. You will then be taken on a tour of the Society’s collections of costumes by its curator. Afterward, you will have the opportunity to visit the Fridlington Room where research into the history of Cranford and its homes takes place. Don’t miss this interesting event. Admission is free and open to the public.

​Please join us for our third annual Yoga on the Green at Shackamaxon Country Club!  
All levels welcome to this course side class with Gina Caruso Pachkowski! Overlook the rolling greens under the big blue sky!  Visit the Westfield High School Girls Ice Hockey team website to purchase tickets, event-related tank tops, money-saving packages, and an optional poolside dinner following Yoga. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $30, but we are encouraging everyone to buy their tickets in advance. We expect to sell out! All ages welcome. Dinner registration will be unavailable after 9 pm on May 20th. Online yoga registration will be unavailable after 9 pm on June 4th.  In person registration for yoga only will still be available at the event on Wednesday. (100 Tillinghast Turn, Scotch Plains) Bring a mat!

The event will have a Kid Zone, Fit Fest, Music, and Sloppy Joe Eating Contest! The event is sponsored by Downtown Cranford, Cranford Community Connection, Cranford Jaycees, Cranford Area Chamber of Commerce, Hanson Park Conservancy, and Cranford Municipal Alliance. The day promises to be a true celebration of everything we love about Cranford.

Please join the Hanson Park Conservancy as we learn the basics of Square Foot Gardening with Althea Llewellyn.  Gather your blankets and chairs and meet us at Hanson Park on Saturday, June 15th at 2:00 PM for this free presentation!  It’s a simple, efficient and productive way to grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers in a small space with less effort.  This innovative method of gardening was created by Mel Bartholomew.  And with this method, anyone can develop a green thumb!  Come one, come all, this presentation is appropriate for ages 6 to 106!
Althea Llewellyn is an environmental educator and speaker.  She is First Vice President of the Master Gardeners of Union County.  She is also a Certified Master Gardener and Certified Square Foot Gardening Instructor.
