Cranford Calendar
Cranford’s CDC Theatre will open its’104th season with the Tony Award-winning musical Once On This Island from the award-winning songwriting team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Seussical, Anastasia, Ragtime). This highly original and theatrical Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale, The Little Mermaid, earned eight Tony nominations for its Broadway run, including Best Musical, Book, and Score. The musical is the story of the fearless young girl, Ti Moune, in search of her place in the world. As an orphan, chosen by the Gods, she is taken into a simple and loving family. Though content, she feels she was destined for something more. After an accident caused by a terrible storm, Ti Moune falls for a handsome stranger whom she tries desperately to nurse back to health, and she is ready to risk it all for love. This sets her on the ultimate quest to answer the age-old question, can love conquer death? The show will run from Friday and Saturday nights from October 7-22 with a matinee on Sunday, October 16. Back by popular demand, The Borough of Roselle Park will be hosting its second annual
Mischief Night Concert & Program on Sunday, October 30, 2022. The concert is free to attend
and will take place at Michael Mauri Gazebo Park (16 E. Grant Avenue) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The concert’s headliner will be The Empire Band, a six-piece band assembled in the downtown
clubs of lower Manhattan. Deemed “New York’s Livest,” The Empire Band has a song bank of
over 300 songs performed by highly-accomplished musicians, meaning no show is ever the
same.
The event is open to all! Free kids activities will also be available at both Michael Mauri Gazebo
Park and at the Youth Center (234 Chestnut Street). These activities are made possible by
Robert Gordon Elementary School PTA, Roselle Park High School PTSA, Roselle Park Middle
School PTA, Aldene Elementary School PTO, Sherman Elementary School PTA, and the
Anthony Signorello Youth Center.
“Last year’s Mischief Night Concert was a tremendous hit, and I look forward to seeing even
more residents join in on the fun this year,” said Mayor Joe Signorello. “With an amazing band
ready to perform all night long and free kids activities, there’s plenty for the entire family to
enjoy. I hope to see Roselle Park’s residents creating Halloween memories at this event!
