Free Scrap Metal Recycling Drop-off Cancelled for August 6 Due to Storm Damage
Union County’s free scrap metal recycling program will not be held on Thursday, August 6, due to downed wires and other debris from Tropical Storm Isaias in Cranford and Rahway.
The program will resume on its regularly scheduled date of Saturday, August 15. Free scrap metal recycling is available to Union County residents at two drop-off locations:
· Cranford – Emergency Services Building at 151 Kenilworth Boulevard.
· Rahway – Rahway River Park, at the park maintenance yard.
Both locations are open for drop-offs from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the first Thursday and third Saturday of each month, until November 21.
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-9, participants must wear face coverings, keep their windows closed, and stay in their vehicles at all times. Materials should be placed in the vehicle’s trunk, cargo area, or truck bed, easily accessible to staff, who will remove it from the vehicle.
A complete list of accepted scrap metals, and information on all Union County recycling programs, is available online at ucnj.org/recycling or call the Recycling Hotline, 908-654-9889.

As we have all heard, the COVID-19 pandemic is continuing to impact our society. For the safety of our guests, donors, volunteers, and students, the Foundation made the difficult decision to make this year’s Beach Ball Gala virtual. While we will be virtual, there are BIG plans in place to make this virtual gala a great time for our guests and a night to remember. We will be bringing back our virtual casino! This event is very special because we are honoring two important donors, DSM as our Corporate Partner of the Year and Mary Zimmermann, class of 2001, as our Fiat Lux award winner. We hope that you can join us on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 6:00 PM to celebrate our wonderful honorees, while helping to ensure we have the ability to continue accelerating the pace of student success. For more information on this year’s exciting event, please call the Foundation office at 908.709.7505, e-mail us at [email protected] or click below to purchase your ticket today!

8:00 – 9:00PM: Paschal Vigil (Triduum III) (in person)
From earliest times Christians have gathered on the eve of the Paschal/Easter Season to recall the story of God’s saving work, from creation through to the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Paschal Vigil marks the end of the emptiness of Lent and Holy Week, and leads into the celebration of Christ’s resurrection. The Vigil Liturgy contains four main parts: The lighting of the Paschal Candle; hearing the great Hebrew stories of the faith; the Liturgy of Initiation (Baptismed); and Holy Eucharist.
10 – 11 AM in the church and streamed online
Easter Sunday at Trinity is always a wonderful celebration, don your Sunday best and come and proclaim our risen, conquering Lord! The choir anthem will be ‘Love’s Redeeming Work is Done’ and we will all have the opportunity to sing the ‘Hallelujah Chorus’ at the conclusion of the liturgy.

Oktoberfest is about gathering, togetherness, and boisterous celebration. At a time full of sports, school, and scheduling conflicts, we find time to come together as a community to welcome in
the fall season.
This year, we are excited to hoist our tent, once again, at Union College on Saturday, October 7th, for the Cranford Jaycees’ Annual Oktoberfest Fundraiser!
Tickets include beer and wine in a souvenir mug, games, food vendors, and live music throughout the night. We’re excited to welcome back our headliner band Mushmouth, alongside NYC’s Street Beat Brass, bringing the authentic Oktoberfest sound.
All proceeds support the Cranford First Aid Squad and other local charities. Oktoberfest sells out yearly, so please purchase your tickets early.
Thank you for supporting Oktoberfest, the Jaycees, and the Cranford First Aid Squad. See you under the tent on Saturday, October 7th.
PROST!
