Return to Play/50th Anniversary Mudturtle Rugby Fundraiser Fun Run @ Virtual
DESCRIPTION

The Union County Rugby Football Club, located in New Jersey, has been in operation since 1974 and touts over 1,000 club members from kindergarten age to adult. We offer both touch and tackle rugby teams that play year-round. The Club will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in three short years, and we are beginning to fundraise and draw awareness to this monumental event. In addition to the 50th, we are also preparing to start a modified season, our first since we lost 2 full seasons to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Since we were not able to gather on the field last year, we have decided to host a virtual race encompassing all of the rugby clubs in NJ to foster some friendly competition and to get people excited for the possible restart of competitive play this Spring.

Challenge yourself to one (or multiple) of the virtual race options by logging your total accumulated mileage over a time frame of your choosing. (doesn’t have to be done all at once & you can walk, run, or bike!)

If you sign up for 2 races at the same time you will receive a 10% discount on your registration automatically.

The Home Field Loop: 13.1 miles covers the same distance you would if you were to travel between all of the pitches Union County Rugby plays home games on. This would take you from Rahway River Park in Rahway to Madison Avenue Park also in Rahway, to Unami Park in Cranford, to Warinaco Park in Roselle, and back to the start at Rahway River Park.

The River Run: 42 miles is the combined distance of the two mightiest waterways running through Union County, the Rahway River, and the Elizabeth River.

The Jersey Cup: 257 Miles is a daunting task, but covers the same distance you would if you hopped in your car to tour all of the home pitches of New Jersey’s NINE rugby clubs. This route goes south to north and would take you from Jersey Shore to South Jersey to Monmouth to Princeton to Union to Bayonne to Morris to Montclair to North Jersey. This event has its own special medal and shirt that are different from the Home Field Loop and The River Run.

8:00 – 9:00PM: Paschal Vigil (Triduum III) (in person)

From earliest times Christians have gathered on the eve of the Paschal/Easter Season to recall the story of God’s saving work, from creation through to the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Paschal Vigil marks the end of the emptiness of Lent and Holy Week, and leads into the celebration of Christ’s resurrection. The Vigil Liturgy contains four main parts: The lighting of the Paschal Candle; hearing the great Hebrew stories of the faith; the Liturgy of Initiation (Baptismed); and Holy Eucharist.
